Name/Surname:
Victor Barbieri
City/Country: Corte Madera CA - USA
Film title: Untitled No.
2 (babies)
Running time: 6 min. 05 sec. (silent)
Brief film synopsis: In "Untitled No. 2 (Babies)"
(2004), Barbieri turned his camera on young children, one by one.
Some look back with curiosity and pleasure, others with irritation
or distress. The heartbreaking openness and vulnerability of their
faces does not prevent our seeing foreshadowed in them an astonishing
range of manners of meeting life. To mirror to us the very humanity
we prefer to deny may be the last true function remaining to portraiture.

Name/Surname:
Alice Gussoni
City/Country: Rome - Italy
Film title: Cuore Malato
Running time: 6 min.
Brief film synopsis: Biological metaphor shifted
form to inhabit emotional states - longing and despair - describes
the system rush toward decadence in spite of its resistance to die.
The heart looks like a flower, with the blow-flies buzzing round
and the maggots, which oozed out like a heavy liquid. The forms
disappeared and become no more than a dream, a sketch that slowly
falls upon the forgotten canvas, that the artist completes from
memory alone. |

Name/surname:
Karenina Fabrizzi
City/Country: Italy/Argentina
Film title: Penisneid
Running time: 6 min. 02 sec.
Brief film synopsis: An aspect of Sigmund Freud´s
developmental theory. Freud believed that during development girls
had to switch from having the mother as the love object to having
the father as the love object: and also switch from the clitoris
to the vagina as the main genital zone. At about the age of four,
Freud believed that girls first discovered they lacked a penis.
The girl will blame her mother or the lack of a penis and the consequent
hurt to her own self-esteem. This causes the girl to give up clitoral
sexuality, and turn to the father as love object. This aspect of
Freud’s theory has received a great deal of criticism, particularly
from feminist psychoanalysts. In Freudian Theory this repressed
desire of females to posses a penis is a cause of feelings of inferiority
and psychic conflict. |

Name/Surname:
Luca Curci – Fabiana Roscioli
City/Country: Italy
Film title: impossible.love
Running time: 06 min. 16 sec.
Brief film synopsis: Luca Curci and Fabiana Roscioli
present the video impossible.love. No place. No space. No identity.
Only a binary vision in a dimension, in which the body-machine tries
to interact, to communicate. Fighting between the essence and the
absence, the contact and the vision, the silence and the vacuity.
Coming in the life of people using the body in order to create in
them a deep crisis, a fracture between the vanity of the identity
and the frailty of the representation. |

Name/Surname:
Route - Nini HU and Joshue OTT
City/Country: New York City - USA
Film title: Strings
Running time: 15 min.
Brief film synopsis: In Route's new video installation,
Strings, the dualities of life are honored and made symbolically
poetic. In manipulated time, strings of movement and tension explore
the relationship between attachment and freedom, chaos and order,
togetherness and separation. Sculptural complexity results from
the tracing of movement in time, but this transient complexity eventually
returns to a singular reality-one's self. Strings illustrates the
necessary coexistence of life's dualities and invites the viewer
to gain acceptance of this balance. |

Name/Surname:
Delalex Gilles & Wessel-Cessieux Thomas
City/Country: Paris - France
Film title: Metro: Paris - Hong Kong underground
Running time: 4 min.
Brief film synopsis: Metro evokes an improbable
metroline stretched between Paris and Hong Kong. The line is 10
000 kilometre-long and constituted of only two stops, one at the
beginning, one at the end. It unfolds as a tube city, a single corridor
remaining underground and offering no possible transfer or exit
between the two metropolises. The video offers an overview of this
fictional city by focussing on the mechanical movement passengers
through corridors and coaches. The blend of black rubber, white
ceramic tiles, metal gates and series of over-lit faces give the
video the feeling of a twenties expressionist movie. The entire
film is made of one second-video loops, each composed of 5 still
frames taken with a digital camera using continuous shooting. The
effect is that of a stroboscopic sequence advancing incrementally
by means of repetition. |

Name/Surname:
Corinne Fhima
City/Country: Paris - France
Film title: Odalisque
Running time: 4 min.
Brief film synopsis: Odalisque is a video film
made up of a succession of photographic and filmic images about
meat and flesh. The band is a mixture of music baroque, sound effects
of weapons, and noise of washing. These "images" result
from my research figure around "the identity" (female,
sexual, religious, and social), that I incorporate in my work. The
pig, as an epicurienne figure par excellence, is also present in
my works, and it is through this emblematic animal that focus, spread
the common questions and waitings. |

|
Name/Surname:
Simona Palmieri
City/Country: Italy
Film title: Mad woman’s vision
Running time: 9 min. 03 sec.
