Name/surname:
Karenina Fabrizzi
City/Country: Italy/Argentina
Film title: Penisneid
Running time: 6 min. 02 sec.
Brief film synopsis: An aspect of Sigmund Freud´s
developmental theory. Freud believed that during development girls
had to switch from having the mother as the love object to having
the father as the love object: and also switch from the clitoris
to the vagina as the main genital zone. At about the age of four,
Freud believed that girls first discovered they lacked a penis.
The girl will blame her mother or the lack of a penis and the consequent
hurt to her own self-esteem. This causes the girl to give up clitoral
sexuality, and turn to the father as love object. This aspect of
Freud’s theory has received a great deal of criticism, particularly
from feminist psychoanalysts. In Freudian Theory this repressed
desire of females to posses a penis is a cause of feelings of inferiority
and psychic conflict. |

Name/Surname:
Luca Curci – Fabiana Roscioli
City/Country: Italy
Film title: impossible.love
Running time: 06 min. 16 sec.
Brief film synopsis: Luca Curci and Fabiana Roscioli
present the video impossible.love. No place. No space. No identity.
Only a binary vision in a dimension, in which the body-machine tries
to interact, to communicate. Fighting between the essence and the
absence, the contact and the vision, the silence and the vacuity.
Coming in the life of people using the body in order to create in
them a deep crisis, a fracture between the vanity of the identity
and the frailty of the representation. |

City/Country: New York - USA
Film title: Patriot Act - Xanadu
Running time: 4 min. 33 sec.
Brief film synopsis: Patriot Act takes a global
sampling of iconic leaders of the Left and Right since World War
II. The speed of the video accelerates as images of parades and
victory celebrations rapidly devolve into images of war and genocide
leading to the video's cataclysmic end. Caught in the blur are images
of the men whom have redefined the political landscape of the world
from some of the most pivotal moments in history. Ultimately, Patriot
Act is about the men who lead and the people who adore them without
question, without fail, time and again through out the course of
history. |

Name/Surname:
Jason Jagello
City/Country: Paris - France
Film title: Slaughterhouse of the West
[v.1]
Running time: 7 min. 47 sec.
Brief film synopsis: In the film, Slaughterhouse
of the West, the artist juxtaposes detached, “surveillance-like”
footage of New York pedestrians/traffic with shots of a village
pig slaughter in the Balkans to question the underlying oppositions
important in our present day. How can we distinguish between what
is ‘civilized/uncivilized,’ ‘humanizing/dehumanizing,’
‘natural/un-natural’? To be sure, in examining these
oppositions in the context of what I have described above, brutality
becomes a purely subjective concept – with all the talk about
promoting values like “civilization,” “democracy,”
and “culture,” we often neglect the negative realities
of our own predicament. Also, it is well known that through wars
and economic sanctions we are the greatest exporters of brutality,
even while we espouse these ideas. |

Brief film synopsis: Se il grembo è la metafora
della nascita può anche diventare il buco nero nel quale

violenza o di bellezza, in una oscillazione tra "presenza e
assenza" da salvaguardare.

Name/Surname:
Delalex Gilles & Wessel-Cessieux Thomas
City/Country: Paris - France
Film title: Metro: Paris - Hong Kong underground
Running time: 4 min.
Brief film synopsis: Metro evokes an improbable
metroline stretched between Paris and Hong Kong. The line is 10
000 kilometre-long and constituted of only two stops, one at the
beginning, one at the end. It unfolds as a tube city, a single corridor
remaining underground and offering no possible transfer or exit
between the two metropolises. The video offers an overview of this
fictional city by focussing on the mechanical movement passengers
through corridors and coaches. The blend of black rubber, white
ceramic tiles, metal gates and series of over-lit faces give the
video the feeling of a twenties expressionist movie. The entire
film is made of one second-video loops, each composed of 5 still
frames taken with a digital camera using continuous shooting. The
effect is that of a stroboscopic sequence advancing incrementally
by means of repetition. |
